NOTICE OF A PUBLIC HEARING ON

PROPOSED RATES AND CHARGES FOR THE TOWN OF PIERCETON, INDIANA

MUNICIPAL SEWAGE WORKS

    Property owners, ratepayers, and other interested parties in or served or to be served by the sewage works of the Town of Pierceton are hereby notified that Ordinance No. 2021-12-2, amending the rates and charges for services to be rendered by the sewage works, was introduced at a meeting of the Town Council held on December 13, 2021 . At a meeting of the Town Council to be held at 6:30 p.m., on January 10, 2022, at the Pierceton Community Building, 105 Walnut Street, Pierceton, IN, there will be a public hearing on the matter of the rates and charges, and consideration of adoption of Ordinance No. 2021-12-2, which provides in part the following rates:

    (a)  The water usage schedule on which the amount of said sewage rates and charges shall be determined for all users other than an Intergovernmental Sewage Utility, effective the February 28 billing cycle which is for sewer use from January 15, 2022 to February 15, 2022, shall be as follows:

    The minimum charge for any user per month shall be based upon meter sizes as follows:

    In no event shall the minimum charge be less than Thirty-Two Dollars and Twenty-Four Cents ($32.24) per month in Phase 1, less than Thirty-Two Dollars and Eighty-Eight Cents ($32.88) per month in Phase 2, less than Thirty-Three Dollars and Fifty-Four Cents ($33.54) per month in Phase 3. The above rates and charges will apply except as otherwise provided herein or by other ordinance.

    (b) The Sewage Usage Schedule on which the amount of rates and charges for an Intergovernment Sewage Utility user shall be as follows:

All Over 1 Gallon    $2.00    $2.05    $2.10

    (c) There will be a charge in the amount of $25.00 assessed to the consumer for each check which is returned to the town for non-sufficient funds.

    (d) All connections to the Town's sewer main must be inspected, and there will be a $25.00 charged assessed to the consumer for inspection of all connections to the municipal sewage works including replacement of existing connections.

    (e) A system  development charge shall be collected from each customer  prior to connection to the Sewage Works System based on meter size as follows:

    Users located outside  the municipality's corporate boundaries may be entitled to petition the Indiana  Utility Regulatory Commission under Section 8-1.5-3 to review and adjust the rates and charges imposed on the users if a petition under Section 8-1.5-3 or under IC 36-9-23-26.1 with respect to the same rate ordinance has not been filed.

    At such hearing and prior to final adoption of said ordinance, all interested parties may appear and be heard. A copy of Ordinance No. 2021-12-2 may be examined at the office of the Clerk-Treasurer, at the Pierceton Community Building, 105 Walnut Street, Pierceton, Indiana 46562.
