WINONA LAKE - Frankie Davidson racked up more awards following another strong week for Grace’s men’s basketball team.

For the second straight week, Davidson was named the NCCAA and Crossroads League Player of the Week. He’s been the league Player of the Week for three consecutive weeks.

His efforts have helped lead Grace to its best start (11-0) since the 1991-92 season, including an upset last week of the No. 1-ranked team in the NAIA.

He scored 35 points in an 83-69 upset of No. 1 St. Francis. He also reached double figures in No. 13 Grace’s road win at Bethel. For the week he averaged 26.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists.

The Lancers are on the road this week, playing at St. Xavier in Chicago on Wednesday night.



Aalbue, Blackwood sweep NCCAA weekly awards

WINONA LAKE - Following a national championship week, two members of Grace’s women’s soccer team were also named the NCCAA National Players of the Week.

Bethany Blackwood was named the NCCAA’s Defensive Player of the Week, and JJ Aalbue was the Offensive Player of the Week.

Blackwood concluded her career as a national champion, helping Grace's women's soccer team to the first national title in team history. She registered seven saves across the semifinals and championship matches, wrapping up her memorable Grace career as a four-year starting goalkeeper.

Aalbue was named the NCCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player. She had a goal or an assist in all four of Grace's matches in Florida, tallying three goals and three assists overall.

She scored the game-winning goal in the championship match against Ottawa, locking up Grace’s national crown.



Ryman tabbed as league Player of the Week

WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Maddie Ryman was rewarded after a strong performance for Grace’s women’s basketball team.

Ryman was tabbed as the Crossroads League Player of the Week on Monday.

She went for a career-high 42 points in Grace’s 74-51 win at Bethel and averaged 28.0 points, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game over two outings for the Lady Lancers. The junior shot 45 percent from the floor for the week and sank a program-record nine 3-pointers against the Pilots.

Grace plays a pair of home games this week. The Lady Lancers host Olivet Nazarene on Thursday at 6 p.m. and Judson on Saturday at 2 p.m.
