Grace has now won its past two outings by a combined score of 9-0, including a 6-0 win over Saint Mary one week ago.
The Lady Lancers began the game as the offensive aggressor and never relinquished control.
In the 28th minute, Grace grabbed the lead for good. Ashley VandenBoom took advantage of a turnover deep in the Pioneers’ end of the field, and she quickly found the back of the net.
The Lady Lancers’ second goal came just five minutes later. Shortly after a corner kick, the ball ended up at the feet of Amber Meade. Meade then shot a laser past the goalkeeper from 25 yards to put Grace ahead 2-0.
Grace tried four more shots before halftime, but the score remained 2-0 as the teams entered the halfway mark.
Grace had a dominant statistical advantage in the first half. Of the 14 shots attempted, Grace owned 13. Seven of Grace’s shots were on goal, and the Lady Lancers also had three corner kicks.
A few minutes into the second half, a lightning delay caused a lengthy halt to the action.
But Grace’s possession remained dynamic once the action resumed. The Pioneers were unable to generate any movement toward Grace’s goal.
Point Park recorded a shot in the 16th minute of the match, and the Pioneers did not manage another attempt for the rest of regulation.
Grace tacked on a third goal late in the contest. Madison Tuma passed ahead to Tori Calizo, who made a clever turn on the ball to spark an opening. Calizo returned a pass to Tuma in the penalty box, and Tuma beat the goalkeeper with a shot from a tight angle.
For the match, Grace owned a 20-1 advantage in shot attempts. The Lady Lancers also had all eight corner kicks in the match.
Tuma had five shots to lead all players, and she finished with a goal and an assist. Danae Moriarty tried four shots, and Eliana Styer and Meade both had two shots on goal.
Next up, the Lady Lancers face one of the stiffest tests of their season on Saturday, Sept. 4. The Lady Lancers welcome No. 6 Southeastern to 1st Source Bank Field for a 7 p.m. showdown.
