Cripe 3rd overall, Wawasee 2nd at Westview Invitational

LAGRANGE – Taylor Cripe shot an 86, good for third place, and the Wawasee girls golf team placed second at the Westview Invitational at Herron Creek Golf Club Saturday.

The Warriors team score of 401 trailed Columbia City by 40 shots, and eight shots better than third-place Goshen.

Other scores for Wawasee were Rylee Firestone, 100; Morgan Reel, 103; Izy Losee, 112; and Delaney Delagrange, 127.

Wawasee returns to competition today, taking on West Noble at Maxwelton Golf Club in Syracuse.



Warriors Sweep Bremen

SYRACUSE – Wawasee’s volleyball team opened its season Saturday with a 25-10, 25-13, 25-16 non-conference sweep of visiting Bremen at the Hardwood TeePee.

Amanda Allen recorded 29 assists for the host Warriors. Allen and Kai Jamora recorded four aces each to lead the team. Dylan Konieczny had 13 kills and a pair of blocks, and Leslie Vazquez had 11 kills and eight digs in the winning effort.

The Warrior junior varsity also swept a pair of games from the Lions, 25-14, 25-10. Jolie Likens had seven aces and six digs for Wawasee, with Abbi Burelison getting six kills and Julis Mishler adding five kills in the victory.

Wawasee travels to Akron to take on Tippecanoe Valley in non-conference action Tuesday.



Valley Volleyball Opens With Road Sweep

ARGOS – Mallory Durkes had nine kills and a pair of blocks for visiting Tippecanoe Valley in its season-opening 25-15, 25-7, 25-7 non-conference volleyball win at Argos Saturday.

Bree Sheetz had seven kills in the victory, with Emily McGriff and Macy Kirchenstein recording seven and six aces, respectively, and Brayden Bailey getting five digs.

The Viking junior varsity opened  its season with a 25-11, 25-9 victory over the host Dragons. Taylor McGriff had five aces, Mackaylie Costello had five digs, with Mackaylie Costello and Ella Sandbakken getting three kills each.

Valley opens its home slate Tuesday when Wawasee visits for a non-conference match.
