The first was at AkzoNobel, 1102 Leiter Drive, Warsaw, and the second was at Pike Lake beach.
Hector Loyola, AkzoNobel plant manager, said, “Today, we are celebrating Arbor Day. The idea is to engage the team, but to use the day because Arbor Day is a very important day.”
He said AkzoNobel, which creates paints and performance coatings, is very interested in promoting everything that is “green.” He said their target is to create an environmentally friendly powder.
“Today, we’re working very, very hard to participate in the community and with our employees,” Loyola said.
AkzoNobel gave all of their employees trees to plant.
“Arbor Day is not just one day, it’s every day,” he said.
AkzoNobel has an initiative called Look and Pride where each year they choose a project to engage their employees in. This year, they chose trees for Arbor Day, according to Deanna Cripe, purchasing buyer for AkzoNobel.
