A water circus came to town and is set up for shows this weekend at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds.

Cirque Italia is a traveling water circus that is presenting “Aquatic Spectacular” under the tents today through Sunday at the fairgrounds, 1400 E. Smith St., Warsaw.

The show features a water stage that holds 35,000 gallons of water where performers will engage in acts including swinging from ropes, flipping over trapezes and zipping by on BMX bikes and roller skates, according to the event’s information page.

Manuel Rebecchi founded the group, inspired by his aunt, Moira Orfei, who is dubbed the “world-renowned queen of the Italian circus.”

Also promised are curtains of rain, fountain jets criss-crossing in time to each performer’s moves, laser lights, bubbles and mermaids “rising from the depths.”

The shows will be at 7:30 p.m. today and Friday; 1:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday; and 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Tickets are $10 to $50 each and can be purchased at www.cirqueitalia.com. One free ticket comes with every paid adult ticket in level 2 and 3.

The circus said in a press release that COVID-19 safety protocols will be followed that include limited seating, hand sanitizing stations around the tent, and masks are required for anyone over the age of 3.
