Tippecanoe Valley Gets First Soccer Win In A Rout

AKRON – After suffering a couple of tough luck losses, The Tippecanoe Valley coed soccer team put together their best game of the season thus far against North Miami, winning 9-1 in Three Rivers conference play. The Vikings left the field winners for the first time this year.

The game started slowly as both teams took roughly 15 minutes to find themselves. Viking striker Caleb Petgen opened the scoring with about 25 minutes left in the first half and that began a flurry of goals for the Vikings. John Ruiz and Christian Ramirez each added a goal prior to intermission as Valley led 3-0 at the break.

Petgen, Ramirez and Ruiz each added two goals each in the second half, giving each player a hat trick on the night. Arturo Dominguez  added two assists on the night.

The victory came at a good time for the Vikings. They are approaching a challenging week beginning Monday at Culver Community. From there, Valley comes home to face arch rival Rochester Sept. 16 and Peru the following evening in a pair of TRC games.

Lakeland Christian takes a 5-2-1 record into Thursday’s match with Class 1A No. 2 Lakewood Park Christian in Auburn.
