MARION, Ind. - Grace’s women’s golf team earned a second-place finish at the season-opening IWU Invitational on Saturday.

Lucy Young highlighted Grace’s day, earning third place and an All-Tournament Team spot.

Young had an opening-round 76 in the morning, finishing with an 81 in the second round for her 157.

Carolyn Pacocha finished six strokes behind Young with a 79-84. The tournament was held at Arbor Trace Golf Club.

Grace’s remaining three A Team golfers finished within one stroke of each other. Abby Slabaugh carded an 83-85, and Rebecca Hawes (85-84) and Rachel Harvey (84-85) each produced a 169 over the two rounds.

“I feel good about our performance today. We played especially well in the morning 18,” said Grace head coach Denny Duncan. “We didn’t handle the wind well in the afternoon, but we still finished second in a field with some very good teams. I’m confident this is a team that will get better as the year goes on.”

The Lady Lancers will hit the links again quickly, playing in the Huntington Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at Brookwood Golf Club.
