Grace’s Harvey Wins NCCAA Wood Award

The award serves as the NCCAA’s top honor, recognizing one women’s golf student-athlete who best exemplifies academic excellence, athletic achievement and Christian service.
“Rachel’s impact on the team goes far beyond her scoring average,” said Grace head coach Denny Duncan. “Her positive attitude and tireless work ethic are infectious. She is attentive to the younger players and is constantly focused on the needs of others.”
Harvey is a two-time NCCAA Scholar-Athlete and currently holds a 3.5 GPA as an exercise science major. Upon graduation, she plans to complete a doctorate and pursue a career in occupational therapy.
Throughout the majority of her first three years at Grace, Harvey was the number six player on the team. An injury to one of her teammates opened the door for her to compete in the 2019 NCCAA National Championships a year ago.
Harvey took full advantage of the opportunity and played well enough for her score to count in all three rounds of the NCCAA tournament. Her final round was the best on the team and led to a two-stroke win and the school’s first national championship in 25 years.
The Lady Lancers are back at the NCCAA Championships this week, playing the three-day, three-round event beginning on Monday.
