Manchester Joins Author For Statewide Virtual Event Tuesday

Students take part in VIA events in order to earn academic credit, according to a news release from Manchester University.
The hour-long Indiana Humanities event begins at 7 p.m. It is open to the public, as is MU’s related book club.
Thompson’s novel was chosen by Indiana Humanities as the 2020 One State/One Story selection. “The Year We Left Home” offers a multi-generational look at living in the Midwest during the final decades of the 20th century, stated the release. Beginning in Iowa in 1973, the novel follows the Erickson family through the many changes affecting American life.
The bestselling-author and National Book Award-finalist will talk about the book, her career as a writer and the stories we tell about the Midwest.
Barb Shoup, founding director of the Indiana Writers Center, will moderate.
