Families who live in the neighborhood participated in a “Blessings of Home” photo shoot.
Lauren Klusman, a local wedding photographer who lives in the neighborhood, scheduled a time with each family who wanted to participate and took photos of them around the outside of their home. The families who participated each made a donation to Fellowship Missions.
Fifteen families, including two outside of the neighborhood, participated in the photo shoot and donated a combined total of over $3,000.
Klusman said it was originally just going to be the week of April 19, but after she ran out of time slots that week, and more people wanted to do it, it was extended it and she did the last one this past Wednesday.
"When I started my photography business almost 10 years ago, I did family shoots regularly. Now that my main focus as a photographer is weddings, I typically only have the opportunity to do a few family shoots each year. I have really enjoyed being able to do more of them again while supporting an organization that does so much for our community. I was blown away by the response and the kindness from my neighbors and I know Fellowship Missions really appreciates their generosity as well. I am so proud and honored to live in a neighborhood and community with such caring people,” Klusman said.
Megan Stone and her family participated in the event. Stone said, “It was a great pleasure for us to participate in the Blessings of Home family photo shoot. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the joys and blessings of our family, our home and our neighborhood while supporting Fellowship Missions, an organization that we strongly believe in."
Klusman said some families used this as a chance to have photos of their graduating college or high school senior. One couple wanted maternity photos, while another used it as an anniversary session.
Though the majority of the photos were formal family photos, she said each family had the opportunity to come up with a creative idea to enter a funny photo contest if they wanted to. Six of the families participated in this, the entire neighborhood was invited to vote for their favorite and the winning family will receive a gift card to a local restaurant.
