WINONA LAKE - Two members of the Grace College men’s basketball team were lauded as All-Americans to end the 2019-20 season.

Haden Deaton picked up two All-American nods, including NCCAA First Team All-American and honorable mention for NAIA All-American.

Charlie Warner was named to the prestigious CoSIDA Academic All-America Team. He was a second team honoree last year and improved to receive first team accolades in 2020 — one of just five players in the NAIA to earn first team recognition.

CoSIDA honors student-athletes for both athletic and academic achievements. Warner boasts a 4.0 GPA while majoring in accounting.

Warner and Deaton paced Grace in scoring. Warner had 499 points this year (16.6 points per game) while Deaton had 495 points (16.5 ppg). Warner shot 56% from the floor, 46% on 3-pointers and 85% on free throws.

Deaton already has 1,449 points to his career total. He also posted a career-high 5.0 rebounds per contest.

Warner and Deaton were also named NCCAA Scholar-Athletes along with David Holden, Cody Holmes, Matt Jennings and Braxton Linville.

The Lancers were hours away from playing in the 2020 NAIA National Championships before the COVID-19 outbreak canceled the tournament. The tournament was Grace’s first trip to NAIA Nationals since 2015.

Grace finished the season with a 19-12 record, including a third-place finish (11-7) in the relentless Crossroads League.
