The Lancers had four players on the All-Crossroads League Team, and Scott Moore was named the league’s Coach of the Year in just his first season as head coach.
Moore has led the Lancers to the 2020 NAIA National Championships for the first time since 2015. Grace posted a 19-12 record while playing in the Crossroads League, placing third in the league standings.
The fifth coach in program history, Moore has already won more games than any of Grace’s previous coaches during their rookie seasons. He is also the first to take a team to a national tournament in his first year.
Moore also has the unique distinction of being a two-sport Coach of the Year in the league. Moore was named the top coach in the conference for women’s tennis in 2016 when he served as the head coach for the Lady Lancers.
Haden Deaton was named First Team All-League for the Lancers. The junior forward averaged 16.5 points and five rebounds per game. In the Crossroads League, he was among the top 15 in scoring, field goal percentage and double-doubles.
Jaret Sons and Charlie Warner each earned a spot on the Second Team All-League. Sons finished the season averaging career-bests in points (14.8 ppg) and rebounds (7.7 rpg). He ranked third in the conference in rebounds, 11th in 3-pointers made and second in double-doubles with seven.
Warner averaged 16.6 points a game on 56 percent shooting from the floor. The senior marksman finished top-10 in the conference for scoring, field goal percentage and free throw percentage.
Myles Johnson was Grace’s final All-League honoree, played his way onto the All-Freshman Team. Johnson appeared in 28 games in his first season and averaged 11.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game in conference play. He was seventh in the conference in offensive rebounds per game.
Grace discovered its NAIA fate on Wednesday; the Lancers will play West Virginia Tech in the first round on Thursday in Sioux Falls, S.D.
