BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Manchester University women's team fell 65-58 in a hard-fought battle against the Beavers of Bluffton University on Wednesday.
Manchester openend a ealry lead to begin Wednesday's contest beofre both sides traded advantages., then the game continued to go back-and-forth. The Spartans ended the first half on a 7-4 run, capped by a Bridget Nash three-point buzzer-beater.
Throughout the entire game, neither side led by more than five points until the final horn sounded.
Manchester shot 34.5perecnt from field-goal range (20-of-58) and 40% from behind the arc (8-of-20). Hannah Lindsey led the way with 15 points, shooting 5-11 from the floor and 5-7 from deep. Macy Miller chipped in 12 points and eight boards, and Bridget Nash added 11 points.
Bluffton was led in scoring by T.J. Mills with 20 points. Brianna Gillig added 13 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. As a team, the Beavers shot 32.4% from field-goal range and 17.2% from behind the three-point line.
The Spartans (8-14, 5-10 HCAC) will host No. 8 Transylvania at 3 p.m. Saturday in Stauffer-Wolfe Arena.
Bluffton improved to 12-10, 6-9 HCAC with the win on Wednesday night.

Men’s Hoops Falls
NORTH MANCHESTER – The Manchester University men's hoops squad dropped an HCAC matchup against Bluffton 55-42 Wednesday night in Stauffer-Wolfe Arena.
Manchester struggled to gain a footing in the game as the Spartans were held to just eight points in the first half on 2-of-18 shooting. For the game, the Spartans shot 31.7% (13-of-31) from field-goal range.
Abdul Ogunnaike led the Black and Gold with a double-double, ending with 10 points and 10 boards.
Bluffton shot 36.7 percent from field-goal range (18-of-49) and made 92% of its free throw attempts (12-of-13). Andrew Renner led the Beavers with 21 points. He went 8-15 from field-goal range and made two three-pointers.
The Spartans (8-14, 6-9 HCAC) will take on Transylvania University at 1 p.m. Saturday in Stauffer-Wolfe Arena.
Bluffton won its fifth consecutive game on Wednesday night to improve to 13-9, 9-7 HCAC.
