NIPSCO Circuit 6997 Kosciusko Phase 2-3 Rebuild Project

Public Notice

Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) located at 801 E. 86th Avenue, Merrillville, Indiana 46410 is submitting a Notice of Intent (NOI) to the Indiana Department of Environmental Management of our intent to comply with the requirements of 327 IAC 15-5 (Rule 5) in order to discharge storm water from a project construction activity. This planned discharge is associated with the NIPSCO Circuit 6997 Kosciusko Phase 2-3 Rebuild Project located in Kosciusko County, Indiana. Project construction activities will replace 202 poles and approximately 28 miles of 69 kilovolt (kV) circuit with portions of collocated underbuilt 12.5 kV circuit between the Kosciusko Substation in the City of Warsaw (41.260747º N, 85.855883º W) and the Mentone #154 Substation in Mentone (41.173719º N, 86.040064º W), with the south-central end of the Project located near the intersection of South CR 600 W and West CR 700 S south of Palestine Lake (41.131139° N, 85.946604° W). Poles that are over 30 years old and spot replacements of poles that are less than 30 years old but require replacement due to their condition will be replaced. The storm water runoff from this project will ultimately discharge into Walnut Creek, Marsh Ditch, Pyle Ditch, Sellers Ditch, Williamson Ditch, Kuhn Ditch, Cretcher Ditch, Trimble Creek, and William Baker Ditch, all tributaries of the Tippecanoe River. Questions or comments regarding this project should be directed to Gordon Ferguson of NIPSCO at the above address.
