WINONA LAKE - The dynamic duo of Kyannah Stull and Maddie Ryman combined to score 56 points on Monday during Grace’s 87-60 win over Holy Cross.

Stull matched her personal-best scoring output with 29 points, shooting 9 of 15 from the floor, 6 of 9 on 3-pointers and 5 of 6 from the foul line.

Ryman had a career-high 27 points after making 10 of 11 from the free throw stripe.

The Lady Lancers (3-3) were aggressive defensively, forcing the Saints into 32 turnovers. Those miscues turned into 37 points for Grace.

Grace’s offense sputtered at the start, missing its first five field goals. But the Lady Lancers caught fire thanks to Ryman and Stull.

Stull got Grace started with a barrage of triples, burying three 3-pointers in the quarter. Ryman added nine points of her own in the frame, scoring on a variety of drives.

Grace pulled ahead 20-13 by the end of the quarter. Although Grace shot just 29 percent from the floor, the Lady Lancers forced the Saints (0-2) into seven turnovers.

The offense started slow again to begin the second quarter. Over five minutes into the second quarter, Grace had mustered just four points. The Saints took advantage to grab a brief lead with three minutes to go in the half.

But the Lady Lancers erupted to end the half. Grace closed the first half on a 12-1 run. Stull scored eight of those points, including a 3-pointer in the final second which sent Grace into halftime with a 38-28 lead.

The Saints could not handle Grace’s defensive energy, committing 17 turnovers before halftime.

Stull and Ryman carried Grace’s attack, combining to score 30 of Grace’s 38 points. Stull had 17 points with five 3-pointers, and Ryman added 13 points.

Grace continued to pull away in the third quarter, eventually grabbing an 18-point cushion at 56-38.

The Saints did their best to rally, bridging the deficit to 11 early in the fourth quarter. But a pair of triples from Ryman and Kaylee Patton gave Grace a boost.

The rest of the quarter belonged to Grace. The Lady Lancers scored the next nine points and did not look back.

Grace eventually pulled ahead by 30 en route to the final 27-point victory.

Kiersten Poor filled the stat sheet with 8 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals, and Kenzie McMahon added 5 points, 7 boards and 3 steals.

Kiara Gill scored seven points off the bench, and Patton tallied 3 points, 3 boards, 3 assists and 3 steals. Kamryn Hostetler amassed 6 points, 3 assists and 2 steals, and Kate Rulli chipped in two points and four boards.

“It was great to be back home and play in front of our fans. The girls played some good ball tonight, and we’ll continue to get better tomorrow,” said Grace head coach Dan Davis. “The performances by Kyannah Stull and Maddie Ryman were very impressive tonight and really showed what they are capable of doing.”

The Lady Lancers’ previously scheduled game at Spring Arbor on Wednesday has been postponed. Grace may add a midweek game, and Grace will also host Taylor on Saturday at 3 p.m.
