Tippecanoe Valley Gets TRC Road Win At Northfield

SPEICHERVILLE – Alex Craft rushed for two touchdowns in the first half, and Branson McBrier hit Jamison Virgil for a fourth-quarter score for visiting Tippecanoe Valley in its 18-10 Three Rivers Conference football win at Northfield Friday night.

Craft finished with 146 yards on 18 carries, and Virgil got an even 100 yards on just six totes. McBrier had 43 yards passing, averaging almost 11 yards per completion.

Valley leveled its overall record at 1-1, and will take a 1-0 TRC mark into its home game with Peru at 7 p.m. Friday.

Wildcats Fall To Tigers

SOUTH WHITLEY – Whitko fell to 1-1 on the season after its 49-14 loss to visiting Peru in Three Rivers Conference football Friday.

Statistics were not available as of press time.

The Wildcats play their first away game Friday at fellow TRC member Rochester. It will be the opening game for the Zebras after cancelling its first two games.

Cougars Blast Oregon-Davis

WINONA LAKE – Jessi Calizo scored for Lakeland Christian in the fourth minute of the match, and the Cougars never looked back in a 10-0 thrashing of visiting Oregon Davis in a non-conference girls soccer match Friday night.

Calizo finished with a hat trick, and a pair of assists. The Cougars led 7-0 at intermission and cruised from there as Oregon Davis became fatigued. Finely Hobbs, normally a goalkeeper, got her first two career goals, with single goals by Liza Schmitt, Keely Bauer, Hannah Starette and Avery Hobbs.

“Hard to get upset with an offensive explosion like that,” said cougar head coach Nat Raber. “I was happy that nine of the 10 goals came on an assist and very happy to see Jessi get on the scores sheet scoring some goals.  Very happy for Hannah, who got her first career goal as did Julia and Finely.  Still need some work on our passing but the team played well.”

Lakeland Christian takes a 3-1 record into Thursday’s match, when Wawasee will visit at 5:30 p.m.
