NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING CONCERNING THE

PROPOSED CONTRACT BETWEEN

WARSAW COMMUNITY SCHOOLS

EMPLOYING DAVID HOFFERT AS SUPERINTENDENT

    On November 12, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. in the Warsaw Educational Service Center located at 1 Administration Drive, Warsaw, Indiana, the Board of School Trustees of Warsaw Community Schools will meet to discuss and hear from the public objections to and support for the proposed contract, which will be effective from July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2022.

Proposed Contract Details

2019-20    

Annual Base Salary    $165,000

Annual 403(b) Plan Contribution        $6,600

Annual Teacher Retirement Fund Contribution         Annual Group Dental Insurance Premium Contribution*    $1,475.53

Annual Long Term Disability Premium Contribution (estimate)*    $177.12

Annual Term Life Premium Contribution (estimate)*

($165,000 Death Benefit)    $180

Annual Club Membership/Dues    $0

Annual Automobile Allowance    $0

Annual Technology Allowance    $884

    *  Indicates that Warsaw Community Schools’ contribution may be adjusted if the insurance carrier increases the premiums for same level of coverage.

    Health Insurance:  The superintendent can purchase group health insurance coverage by paying the same percentage of the premium of the selected coverage as teachers pays.  Presently, the total premium of single coverage health insurance is $8,878.90, and the total premium of family coverage is $22,483.66.

    Longevity Bonus:  Pursuant to the terms of prior contracts, the superintendent receives a $5,000 longevity bonus, if he remains employed as superintendent on January 1, 2021.

Agreement Length:  Indiana statute prohibits a superintendent contract to be for a term of longer than three years.  The proposed contract can be canceled by the school board for the reasons set out in Indiana statute.  The superintendent and Warsaw Community Schools can, by mutual agreement, cancel the proposed contract at any time.

    Annual Review and Adjustment:  The school board is contractually obligated to annually evaluate the superintendent’s job performance.  If the superintendent earns an effective or highly effective rating as part of the annual evaluation, the superintendent is entitled the same percentage salary increase as teachers.

    Vacation Days:  The superintendent receives 20 vacation days of which he may carry over five unused days to the following year, but may not possess more than 25 days.    

    Additional Benefits:  The superintendent receives additional, non-duplicative benefits that are made available to Warsaw Community Schools certified teachers pursuant to the current collective bargaining agreement.
