HANOVER, Ind. - Fourth-seeded Manchester University gave the top-seeded Panthers of Hanover College a battle, but ultimately fell just short, dropping a 2-0 decision in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Semifinals on Wednesday November 6.

Manchester's defense held strong in the early stages of the first half as the Spartans withstood several offensive flurries by the Panthers.  Hanover broke into the scoring column with just 42 seconds left in the opening period as Brady Gesenhues netted his second goal of the season.

Hanover sealed the victory with a second goal in the 81st minute as Josh Hughes scored for the seventh time this year.

Hanover's defense was tough to generate scoring opportunities on as the Spartans were outshot 24-2.

Senior goalkeeper Justin Winterboer (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) made five saves in goal in his final game for the Black and Gold.

The Spartans conclude the year with an overall record of 9-10-1.  Hanover (12-5-1) will host the HCAC Tournament title game on Saturday November 9.  They will play the winner of #2 Rose-Hulman and #3 Transylvania.  Those two teams will play tonight in Terre Haute beginning at 7 p.m.
