The Syracuse Library is joining other libraries around the state with yard signs that announce the importance of the local library.

“We Love Our Library” signs coincide with National Library Week. A limited number of signs are available for Turkey Creek residents to display in their yard during April. Ask about placing a sign in your yard.

Summertime Is Potter-Time

Many adults grew up with Harry Potter and weren’t invited to make the crafts offered to teens, but Harry Potter crafts are being offered to adults this summer. Sign up for notifications of the craft and time. 

Out of Order

Tuesday afternoons in early April will be taken with an hour at 1 p.m. on April 2, 9 and 16, to design a website or video game.

Decluttering Group

The usual decluttering group is meeting later in the month. Decluttering support group is only meeting once in Apri, at 1 p.m. April 23. They will meet on the regular schedule on May 7 and 21.

Exercising In The Spring

Pyramid easy chair yoga, advanced chair yoga and restorative chair yoga will resumat 10:15 a.m. April 16 and at 9:30 a.m. April 18.

The Syracuse-Wawasee Trails is guiding walks on April 4 and 11 at 9 a.m. The walks leave from the Syracuse Community Center, 1013 N. Long Drive.

Mahjong Mondays

Mahjong tile game is meeting on every Monday except April 1. The game is easy to learn, yet the more one plays, the easier it is to understand the variety of options in the game.

Children’s Events

Family Fun meets at 5 p.m. April 30 for gross-out action followed by pizza. How bad can it be? The story time field trips on Mondays at 10:30 a.m. are visiting the fire station, library, teapups, Lee Anne Stewart’s dance studio and the bowling alley.

All children’s programs are in full swing through April. Weekly events are Story Time, Toddler Time and Baby Time, meeting on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:30 a.m.

Fun at Four and Baylee the reading dog are here on Thursdays.

Book Suggestions

Food From Fiction book club is taking to the road for a finale discussion of “Like Water for Chocolate.” The discussion will be at the Mexican restaurant in North Manchester with dessert at the Art Bank. Sign up for a reservation for this April 26 excursion.

Summer Programs

Summer is around the corner when the adult reading program, “A Universe of Stories,” begins with a walk to look at the full moon and a recap of the “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.”

Books are available to either revisit or discover “Arthur Dent,” “Ford Prefec,” and “Zaphod Beeblebrox” as they travel to other planets in a story that launched a fascination with modern science fiction stories. Excerpts and favorite characters will be a topic of discussion on the moon walk on May 18.
