SYM Financial Advisors of Warsaw announced a promotion and several new hires.
Kris Black has been promoted to chief financial officer. Black joined SYM in January 2012.
Prior to her work at SYM she was in her own accounting practice, serving the general tax and accounting needs of companies and local CPA firms. She looks forward to her role on SYM’s management team and acting as an integral partner in SYM’s relationships and strategic direction.
Black earned a Bachelor of Science in business accounting from Indiana University Bloomington. She also holds the designation of certified public accountant.
In her personal time, Black chooses to spend time with family and to enjoy her lake house in southern Michigan.

Tyler Todd recently joined SYM as a compliance/operations specialist. Todd graduated from Augustana College in Illinois with a Bachelor’s degree in business finance.
The company also hired Scott Soptick, CPA, as a financial planner. Soptick graduated from Kansas State University with a Master of Accountancy. He is a member of the Indiana CPA Society.
Brian Swinehart recently joined SYM as a financial advisor. Swinehart graduated from the United States Military Academy with a bachelor’s degree in management.
Gabriella Tucker, CFP, Financial Advisor at SYM Financial Advisors, has been authorized by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards to use the certified financial planner and CFP certification marks in accordance with board certification and renewal requirements.
Tucker is a graduate of Indiana University - Bloomington and joined SYM in November 2017.
The CFP marks identify those individuals who have met the rigorous experience and ethical requirements of the CFP Board, have successfully completed financial planning coursework and have passed the CFP certification examination.
LCB Promotes Wagoner
Lake City Bank announced that it has promoted Eric D. Wagoner to vice president, imaged solutions manager.
In his new position, Wagoner oversees the electronic document services and item processing departments. He also supports operational functions and is involved in product development and implementation. He most recently served as vice president, operations officer. He has been with the bank for 14 years.
Wagoner attended Indiana University-Bloomington, Indiana University – Purdue University Fort Wayne and Grace College. He volunteers with the Warsaw Salvation Army’s Women’s Auxiliary by providing them with technical support.
Ag Marketing Class Offered
Glen Jones, longtime area agricultural educator, will offer a six-week agricultural marketing class beginning at 7 p.m. Jan. 29 at either Tippecanoe Valley or North Miami high schools, depending on where enrollees live.
Students will learn ag marketing terminology such as puts, resistance, carry, option, basis or maintenance margin and become more comfortable in making marketing decisions. In addition to Jones, class resources will include local grain merchandisers and a commodity broker.
The first class is free, and a fee of will be $100 per student or $150 would be due after the initial session, should the student choose to continue with the other five sessions.
