2019: Making Generosity A Priority

Here at 212 Media Studios, we believe our local nonprofits are the glue of this community. They work year-round to make sure everyone in Kosciusko County has the opportunities and resources they need to thrive. It’s easy to take everything they do for granted—and most of the time, their hard work goes unnoticed.

When the holiday season is over, everything goes back to normal. Kids go back to school. Adults go back to work. Volunteers and supplies for community events suddenly seem nonexistent. Generosity isn’t a priority anymore because the “season for giving” is over, and everyone has already made their year-end donations.

We want to change that pattern. The nonprofits in our community deserve recognition year-round, not just during the holidays. Instead of leaving generosity behind in 2018, we’re hoping to carry a fresh perspective into 2019. We want to show the organizations in Kosciu-sko County how much their work matters to us. As our team brainstormed ways to appreciate our local nonprofits in the new year, we realized we had the perfect opportunity to organize a celebration: 2/12 Day.

Since we became 212 Media Studios, we’ve made it a point to celebrate every Feb. 12 by running contests and giveaways to share our excitement with the world. We care about our community and the people who live in it. 2/12 Day isn’t about us; it’s about the people who make Kosciusko County such a great place to be. We try annually to make a difference locally by supporting a local nonprofit in a unique way.

This year, we’ve been inspired to host an event for all the nonprofits in Kosciusko County. On Feb. 12, we’re inviting our local nonprofits to a special appreciation luncheon to thank them for everything they do.

Not only do we want to celebrate these local organizations, but we want to empower them. It’s our mission to take an active role in investing in our community and making it a better place. We’re inviting Dekko Foundation President Tom Leedy as our guest speaker to talk to nonprofit representatives about how to be leaders in the community and motivate others to get involved in their work.

To make sure all our local nonprofits get the appreciation they deserve, we’re offering a free digital report card to everyone in attendance, which means we’ll evaluate each nonprofit’s digital footprint (website, social media, etc.) completely free. We’re so excited to give these local organizations this small token of our gratitude for all of their hard work. For more information on attending this event to represent your nonprofit, email [email protected]

In 2019, we hope people don’t save their generosity for the holidays. Instead, we hope everyone can adopt a fresh perspective, focusing on year-round investment in local giving opportunities. We can’t wait to celebrate our community on 2/12 Day; it’s an honor to live in Kosciusko County and have the chance to work with our nonprofits to make a difference in others’ lives.
