Auditions With Wagon Wheel, Youth Symphony

Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts is seeking youth ages 9-14 with strong backgrounds in singing, dancing and acting for its production of the musical “Matilda.”
The auditions are at 2 p.m. March 2 at Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts; 2515 E. Center St., Warsaw. Sign-in will be in the lobby.
There is no need to prepare anything. The Wagon Wheel will provide a short song to sing and a dance combination. Some individuals may be kept to read from the show.
Bring something comfortable to dance in and appropriate shoes (sneakers or jazz shoes).
Roles to be cast from the audition include:
• Matilda Wormwood, an imaginative girl who is clever and wise far beyond her years. She has a thirst for learning that cannot be quenched. Strong singer/actor/dancer required with past professional show experience.
• Bruce, Matilda's classmate. He is subject to extreme punishment by Miss Trunchbull. Strong singer/actor/dancer required.
• Lavender, Matilda's classmate and friend.
• Other female roles include Amanda, Alice and Hortensia; and other male roles include Eric, Tommy and Nigel. They require strong singers/actors/dancers.
Young actors must be available for the following dates to be considered for a role:
• Rehearsals: after school and weekends May 20-June 3.
• Additional rehearsals will be required on weekends in May.
• Performances: June 4-15.
The Wagon Wheel Theatre is dedicated to practicing inclusive, diverse and non-traditional casting. Youth from within and outside the Warsaw area are encouraged to attend the auditions.

Fort Wayne Philharmonic Youth Symphony Orchestras
FORT WAYNE — The Fort Wayne Philharmonic Youth Symphony Orchestras has announced auditions for its 2019-20 season, which will include a New York City tour and a performance at Carnegie Hall.
This will be the first time the Youth Symphony Orchestra will perform at the world-famous venue. The performance is scheduled for April 6, 2020.
The 2019-20 schedule includes a fall and spring concert at the Auer Performance Hall on the PFW campus, a special performance with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, two Grand Wayne Center performances during the “Night of Lights” and Arts United FAME Festival, and other Fort Wayne Philharmonic educational and philanthropic events.
Participants of the Youth Orchestras program receive professional opportunities that include:
• Coaching with Philharmonic musicians
• Access to special events, including master classes, and guest artist visits
• Complimentary tickets to select Philharmonic concerts
• Scholarship opportunities for private lessons and summer music camp study
• Instrument loan opportunities
Auditions will be April 30, May 1 and May 2 at Ginsberg Hall in the Fort Wayne Philharmonic administrative office complex, 4901 Fuller Drive.
