This week Zimmer Biomet announced appointment of Dr. Pamela Puryear as senior vice president, chief human resources officer.
Puryear, who most recently served as senior vice president and chief talent officer at Pfizer, will report directly to President and CEO Bryan Hanson

In her role at Pfizer, Puryear spearheaded leadership development, talent management, learning and development, employee engagement, organizational culture, diversity and inclusion and workforce analytics. Previously she served as chief talent officer at Hospira, a leading provider of injectable drugs and infusion technologies, which was acquired by Pfizer in 2015. During the acquisition, Puryear was a member of the integration team, focused on supporting employees through the transition and merging two corporate cultures.

Puryear started her career as a finance professional for several real estate investment advisors, and holds a BA in psychology and organizational behavior from Yale, an MBA from Harvard Business School and a PhD in organizational psychology.
Samuels Named Senior V.P.
Lake City Bank announced this week it has promoted Douglas R. Samuels to senior vice president, corporate and institutional services manager.
“Since joining the team in 2006, Doug has played a key role in developing and expanding our corporate and institutional services groups and has been instrumental in the growth of the business,” said David M. Findlay, president and chief executive officer.
Samuels manages the treasury management, merchant and cardholder services and retirement services sales teams. He also manages and develops treasury management products. He has been with the bank for 12 years.
Samuels has a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from Valparaiso University. He is a member of the Association for Financial Professionals and serves as a board member for the AFP Indiana Chapter. He also volunteers for Junior Achievement.
“Doug’s knowledge and initiative have enabled us to bring technology driven treasury management products to our business customers,” said Eric H. Ottinger, executive vice president, commercial banking. “He has made a significant contribution to the bank’s success.”

Homes Land and Lakes Realty announced the addition of Orville Haney this week to its agency.
Haney is a graduate of Tippecanoe Valley High School, Purdue Univer-sity and Beer School of Realty. He has been recognized by both Tippecanoe Valley and Purdue University as a Distinguished Alumni. He has an extensive agricultural background developing from a sixth-generation dairy operation.

TEK Coat &?Spray, Service Star Trucks Moving To South Whitley
SOUTH WHITLEY – TEK Coat and Spray, LLC, and Service Star Trucks, affiliates of Bolt Custom Trucks and Manufacturing, recently announced plans to locate in the former Dwyer Instruments building at 367 W. First St., South Whitley.
Bolt designs and manufactures premium custom sleepers for over-the-road expedite trucks and tractor trailer cabs. The company offers a wide array of services from cutting-edge engineering and design, manufacturing, service and repairs, and custom painting.
TEK will provide coating and painting services to local customers, along with painting SST and Bolt manufactured products. Powder coating and wet painting will be the company’s main areas of focus. Initially, the company will relocate current employees to the facility, but plans to eventually employ up to 35 individuals at the new South Whitley facility.
“We were pleased to find a place strategically located between our two facilities in Akron and Fort Wayne,” said Andy Martin, general manager of the new facility. “We look forward to working closely with the town and the local school system as we prepare to grow our business in South Whitley. It’s been exciting to interact with the team at the Whitley County Economic Development Corporation. The EDC is very motivated to grow the economy in Whitley County.”
Service Star Truck is a manufacturer of standard and custom-engineered field service truck equipment. SST specializes in designing and manufacturing a complete line of heavy-duty mechanic trucks, service trucks, hydraulic cranes, utility trucks, fuel/lube trucks, lube trucks, enclosed lube trucks, fuel/lube trailers, lube trailers, fuel/lube skids and lube skids.
Bolt started out as Bentz Transport Products, a manufacturer of after-market sleeper cabs and stainless accessories for medium and heavy-duty trucks, back in 1993. Under new ownership, the company later became Bolt Custom Trucks and Manufacturing, and expanded its offerings to custom engineered and manufactured truck sleepers and cab modifications.
“First and foremost, I am happy to see activity returning to the Dwyer Building. Secondly, I am pleased at the skilled jobs that TEK and SST are planning to bring to the community and their desire to work closely with the Whitko School System,” said Jon Myers, president of the Whitley County EDC.
The South Whitley Town Council approved a 10-year tax abatement on real estate improvements and new equipment, at the request of Bolt and the Whitley County EDC.
“We are pleased to support Bolt, and we are grateful for their investment in South Whitley. There are numerous positives coming out of this project: the Dwyer Building will be put to good use, skilled jobs will be created, as well as new partnerships in the community,” said South Whitley Town Council President Randy Cokl.

Shindigz Reveals Expansion Plans
SOUTH WHITLEY – Shindigz recently announced plans to expand its operations in South Whitley by adding new manufacturing equipment and additional jobs.
Shindigz is one of the largest party-supply companies in America. Founded in 1926, Shindigz is one of the country’s leading online and catalog retailers of personalized party supplies, decorations and favors. Offering more than 34,000 products, it provides anything from banners, balloons, party favors and gifts, costumes and more.
“Shindigz is on a growth path, and we are continuing to invest in South Whitley and our team as we grow,” said Dan Haight, company CEO. “We’re adding new equipment now and we have plans for more investments this year. These investments strengthen our commitment to Northeast Indiana, which has been strong for more than 90 years.”
The company’s manufacturing and order fulfillment operation is located at 111 E. Broad St., South Whitley, and currently employs 145 people. The company plans to have the new equipment up and running by early March, and will add three additional seasonal jobs.
“Like so many of our local companies who compete in the global marketplace, Shindigz continues to modernize its equipment and seek new talent so it can continue to grow,” said Jon Myers, president of the Whitley County Economic Development Corporation. “We are pleased that Shindigz is continuing to expand its operations in Northeast Indiana.”
The South Whitley Town Council approved a five-year tax abatement for the project on Tuesday evening, at the request of Shindigz and the Whitley County EDC.
