Manchester Women's Basketball Rolls Past Beloit

The Spartans shot a season-best 50% (29-of-58) from the field and 50% (11-of-22) from three-point territory, while their defense held the Bucs to 40.8% (20-of-49) shooting for the game.
Manchester converted 24 Beloit turnovers in to 26 points.
Never trailing on Saturday, the Spartans hopped out to an early 10-4 lead midway through the first period. MU held an 18-15 lead after 10 minutes of action.
Following a Beloit basket at the 7:43 mark of the second frame, Manchester would outscore the visiting Buccaneers 19-5 to grab a 39-22 lead at the intermission. The offensive outburst was spearheaded by a pair of three-pointers from both Abby Walker and Miranda Bieghler.
Manchester blew the game open following halftime as the Spartans outscored the Bucs 26-10 in the third quarter. MU built its largest lead of the game of 40 points at the 7:48 mark of the fourth quarter when it led 72-32.
Freshman Hannah Lindsey led four Spartans in double figures with 14 points. Lindsey finished 5-of-10 from the field and made a trio of three-pointers. Miranda Bieghler matched her career-high with 13 points. Bridget Nash chipped in 12 points and three assists. Abby Walker finished with a career-high 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting. 10 different Spartans scored on Saturday.
Manchester’s bench outscored Beloit’s reserves 48-10. The Spartans also held a sizable advantage in transition, outscoring Beloit 21-2 on fast break opportunities.
Macy Miller and Kennedy Fillmore both grabbed a team-high five rebounds.
Kelly Loudon led Beloit with 24 points and nine rebounds.
Winners of back-to-back contests, Manchester improved to 3-2 on the season. MU will have a week to prepare for its next contest, opening Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play at 5 p.m. Saturday at Hanover College.
