NORTH MANCHESTER – The Manchester University men's soccer team held a special signing day on Sunday afternoon to announce the addition of its newest team member.

The Spartans welcomed five-year old Carson McKee to its athletic family.

Partnering with Team Impact, national nonprofit that connects children facing serious and chronic illnesses with college athletic teams, head coach Corey Brueg-geman welcomed Carson and his family to Manchester with a special signing day held on campus.

"We are extremely thrilled to welcome Carson and his family to Manchester," Brueggeman noted.  "Carson is a tremendous kid and will make an excellent addition to our program."

After a brief welcome by President Dave McFadden, Carson, surrounded by family and friends, signed on as the newest member of the men's soccer team and was given his very own jersey.

McKee, who is battling cystic fibrosis, was given the jersey number 44, the same number worn by his favorite athlete, Anthony Rizzo of the Chicago Cubs.

With a smile on his face, Carson then fielded questions from his new teammates and local media:

Question: "What is your favorite color?"

Carson: "Blue."

Question: "What is your favorite animal?"

Carson: "Cheetahs."

Question: "Who's your favorite superhero?"

Carson: "Superman."

Question: "Carson, you're a multi-sport athlete who also loves baseball, do you hit bombs or dingers?"

Carson (emphatically): "Dingers!"

A big Chicago Cubs fan, Carson was asked if the Cubs will win the World Series this year, McKee shyly replied, "No, probably not."

At the end of his signing day, Carson enjoyed a surprise ice cream party with his family and new teammates in the Jo Young Switzer Center.
