The Syracuse Public Library is offering its patrons mobile HotSpots for a one-week checkout.

The device sets-up wireless internet connections for up to five devices. Those with a Syracuse library card can fill in an internet gap with tasks such as doing homework assignments. Users get to try out the technology before buying or for security while traveling.



Delivery Coming Soon

Homebound services are available for Turkey Creek Township residents to have books, audio-books and some movies delivered.

The Syracuse Library is in the process of forming a delivery schedule for those living in the township and that are unable to leave their home for six weeks or more. Information is available by calling 574-457-3022 or on the website.



Decluttering Support

A decluttering support group is meeting from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Attendance is open to anyone who wants ideas or is overwhelmed with managing possessions. The group is meeting a second time in at 1 p.m. Oct. 16.



Children’s Programs

Children now have three morning programs with the addition of a story time for little ones that are ages 6 to 18 months. The new Friday programs are at 10:30 a.m.

Story times exploring science are on Mondays and toddlers have down-home farm fun on Wednesdays, both at 10:30 a.m.

Children that live close to the library have an ideal situation where they can come to the library without a ride. “Fun at Four” is a time for activities that are fun and different than school day activities.

Kids are provided a snack and apple adventures on Thursdays at 4 p.m. More after-school groups are book clubs. Third- through fifthgrade readers meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday to read aloud “Because of Winn Dixie.”



Chair yoga

A free half-hour chair yoga classes, meets on Tuesdays at 10:15 a.m. for Pyramid Yoga that builds on basic skills.

Trail walk and advanced chair yoga meets at 9 a.m. for a walk and 9:30 a.m. yoga class. The Syracuse Comm-unity center hosts a free chair yoga class for people with special injuries or disabilities on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. Instruction is provided by the library.



WorkOne

WorkOne is at the library to offer assistance for job searches and to bring the latest news from area employers on a first-come, first-served basis from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays.



The Week’s Programs

The Friends library support group invites people to join them as they hear about the latest library programs on 10:15 a.m. Oct. 4.

To make a craft item teens need to sign-up for the Harry Potter Club call list. Tuesday evening’s craft is an Always frame. Meet fellow fans while making story mementos. Many library groups have call lists to remind interested people to look at their schedules, it just takes saying you are interested.
