Akron Library Full Of October Fun

Here’s some of what’s coming up in Ocotber at the Akron Public Library:

• Join us for our Preschool Story Hour this fall, every Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the library. The theme this fall is "Outer Space." There will be stories, songs, crafts and more for children ages 3-6.

• Join the Adult Reader’s Book Club at 5 p.m. Oct. 4 at the library. Contact the library at 574-893-4113 for more information.

• Don't forget to sign up for the Akron Public Library's Annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest. The contest begins Oct. 8 and sign up is required to participate.

The contest is for children ages 5 and up and will run through Oct. 22. Prizes will be awarded in two age categories. This is a no-carving competition and only small pumpkins will qualify for judging.  Pumpkins will be available for purchase at the library on Oct. 8 for $2, while quantities last.

• The next Kids Book Club will be from 4:30 until 5:30 p.m. Oct 9. For ages 8-12. Free book journals and plenty of fun activities.

• The Chain Gang knitting and crocheting group will meet from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 16.  New members are always welcome.

• The Dish It Up recipe club will meet at 6 p.m. Oct. 16 in the community room.  The theme for October is “Halloween Treats and Thanksgiving Eats.” Contact the library at 574-893-4113 to sign up.    

• The next Adult Crafty Corner will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 23. This month’s craft is a card string art project. There is a $10 fee for this project to cover material expenses and pre-registration is required.

• Be sure to join us at the Akron Elementary School at 6 p.m. Oct. 25 for Professor Steve and his “Science of Frankenstein” program.  stare in amazement as Prof. Steve unleashes the electrical power contained in Franken-stein's  laboratory.
