Hastings-Carris Schools

The annual Hastings-Carris school reunion will be at 12:30 p.m. Sept. 30 at Beer's “Old Hastings” log cabin, located just south of the corner of CR 1050N and CR 425W, Milford.

There will be a carry-in dinner; drinks and ice cream will be provided.

Anyone who attended either of these one-room schools is invited, along with their guests. The reunion will recreate "Old Hastings” with replicas of the store, church and school, and displays of old machinery around a farm pond. There will be door prizes along with the sharing of memories and stories of times past.

These schools were in session until 1947.

Warsaw High School Class Of 1961

The Warsaw High School Class of 1961 will meet for lunch at noon Sept. 21 at The Boathouse in Winona Lake.

All classmates and former teachers are invited to attend.

Those attending the Aug. 29 meeting at Someplace Else Saloon in Claypool were Clint Whitney and friend, Mary Keplinger, Bob Craig, Dave Wolkins, Bob and Linda Hile, Betty Orpurt, Diane Poort, Linda Roberts, Rita Soburg, Bob Downing and Connie Van Curen.

Eleven members of the WR2 team, Warsaw, competed this past weekend at the Middle School Nationals Cross Country Meet in Louisville. Members of the WR2 (pronounced ‘WR’ squared) Track and Field Club joined over 900 runners from 29 states across six events on the E.P. Tom Sawyer XC course, which has hosted NCAA championship events.
