They want the challenge of reading a book that they might not have thought to read. They want to meet other readers and are interested in their reaction. And, time just goes so quickly so that a monthly meeting is a reminder to complete a book.
The Syracuse Library is offering three book clubs during the second week of September. At 4:30 p.m. Monday, the Turkey Creek Readers talk about Florida in the 1970’s. Playwright and author Phillip DePoy is working on a series with a different take on Florida-crazy with Cold Florida.
Children have book clubs that meet on Tuesdays at 5 p.m. Older kids meet on the first Tuesday and younger kids in kindergarten thr-ough second grade meet on the second Tuesday. The first book is “Nate the Great.” Teen Book Club is forming with a first meeting at 5 p.m. Sept. 13. They are meeting in the teen area.
