North Webster Community Public Library has completed its Jean Lynch Obituary Project and has made it available for public use on the library’s website,  www.nweb.lib.in.us.

This collection of over 35,000 obituaries was originally gathered by the late Jean Lynch of Leesburg from clippings of newspapers across northern Indiana, dating back to the 1950s. It took over six years, countless staff hours and many volunteers to scan and index these obituaries into an online searchable database.

The database is user-friendly, and will aid genealogists and local historians.

Matinee

Adults may enjoy some local history during the movie matinee set for 1:30 p.m. Monday. Showing is “Indian Ranger of Redwood.”

Locally produced in the 1950s, the movie was filmed in Noble County and features several local residents. Come spend the afternoon watching an old flick and see if you recognize any familiar faces.

Craft-A-Card

Registrations are currently being accepted for the next Craft-A-Card workshop at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 25. Instructor Wrenay Kann will show how to make three finely detailed Christmas cards.

Cost of the workshop is $10 and includes all card-making supplies. Advance registration is required with the non-refundable payment due when registering. The workshop can accommodate adults only.

Robot Program

Kids are welcome at the robot programs in the youth department next week at 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Oct. 18. On Oct. 19, robot programs will be held at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Each program is age-specific with only eight participants allowed per program and pre-registration is required to work with the robots. However kids of all ages are welcome to come and watch any of the programs without registration.

Everything Else

Preschool Story Time is at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on Wednesdays, Crafts and Stories at 4 p.m. every Tuesday for school age children, and Paws-To-Read at 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays by appointment only.
