For every non-perishable food item patrons bring in next week, $1 will be taken off their overdue library fines. The food will then be donated to the North Webster Food Pantry. Expired foods, dented cans or damaged packages cannot be accepted.
The Food for Fines policy applies only for North Webster Library cardholders for materials borrowed from North Webster Library and does not count toward lost, damaged or unreturned items. So pay off your fines and help the community.

“Knit 1 Crochet 2,” the library’s new knitting and crocheting group, meets 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Beginners are asked to bring a size H or I crochet hook and Sugar N’ Cream brand yarn (available at most stores). Instructor Teresa Zurcher will demonstrate how to make a hotpad. Experienced knitters and crocheters are invited to bring their individual yarn projects to work on and share ideas. The group meets the first Tuesday each month.
Kids, ages 5-12, will be having fun at Lego Club 1 p.m. Dec. 8. The Legos are provided while each child uses their imagination to build their own creation. Parents and grandparents are encouraged to join in the fun as well.
The youth department has added two new “Book Buddy Kits” to its collection.
The picnic-themed kit contains a picnic basket stocked with play food, picnic cloth, plastic ants, two games and two books. The tea party themed kit contains complete tea and table service, pretend cookie baking set, four boas, four party hats and three books.
The new additions bring the library’s collection to a total of 26 themed kits, each containing educational toys, books and activities. Book Buddy Kits can be checked out for one week using an Evergreen library card.
Looking for some good books to put you in the holiday spirit? The library has added many new titles to its collection of holiday books. Browse through the new arrivals, check some out and curl up for some cozy reading.
