Experience a traditional afternoon tea at the second annual Ladies Tea at 2 p.m. May 10 hosted by North Webster Community Public Library and the Friends of the Library organization.

The tea will be held in the North Webster Community Center Banquet Hall where ladies will enjoy light refreshments, table service and friendly conversation. Everyone is asked to bring their favorite tea cup and saucer and wear a fun tea party hat.

Advance tickets are required, and on sale for $7 at the library or from any Friends of the Library member. There will be no ticket sales at the door for this adults-only event. So invite friends and family members for a fun girls’ afternoon.

The library is starting up an adult Summer Book Club that will meet 5:30 p.m. the third Monday from May through September. Every-one will read the same book to discuss with a variety of books, genres and authors throughout the summer.

The selection for the May 21 meeting is “Glory Over Everything” by Kathleen Grissom. Stop in the library and pick up a copy, then join the discussion on May 21.

The only thing better than reading a good book is winning a prize for doing it during the library’s May Reading Contest. Since May is National Nurses Month, the library challenges patrons to read a book that has a nurse as a character; then enter the book’s title, along with their name and phone number, in a drawing for a chance to win a prize.

Patrons can read as many books and enter as many times as they like. The more books read, the better chances to win.

Trivia contests also give patrons a chance to win prizes. Stop by the Check It Out Station for the current trivia contest and enter your answer into the drawing. The contests change frequently, so stop by often and play.

The Youth Department has suspended Tuesday Crafts and Stories for the remainder of the school year and summer. This popular after school activity will start back up in September.

Echo the therapy dog is also taking a break from Paws-To-Read throughout May, but she will return in June to listen to children read to her during the Summer Reading Program. Check the library for dates and times.
