As the summer reading program gets underway at North Webster Community Public Library, professional magician Jeff Wawrzaszek will perform his “Read Like a Rock Star” magic show 10:30 a.m. June 13 with a medley of magic tricks and laugh-a-minute comedy. The show is open to all children and their families.
Family Story Time begins its summer session on Tuesday with a choice of two time periods at 10:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. through July 17. Although geared to children ages 3 to 6, older siblings can join in, too. Registration is requested, but visitors are always welcome.
Pre-Reader Paws Classes also begin at 3 p.m. Tuesday where preschoolers will have fun learning sight words with Echo, a registered therapy dog, as they move through four stations of fun activities. Pre-Reader Paws Classes will be held every Tuesday through July 24. Pre-registration is required.

Older kids can also have fun with Echo at “Paws-To-Read” June 15. Kids can sign up for a private 15-minute session to practice oral reading with this lovable canine. Appointments are available 10:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and must be scheduled in advance at the youth services desk.
Teens won’t be left out of the fun. Students going into grades 6 to 12 are invited to get together for some fun and friendly competition playing board games.
Youth, from infants through higher schoolers, are encouraged to sign up for the summer reading program and earn prizes for reading. Although they don’t have to be signed up to attend the many events and activities planned this summer, those who are can earn extra credit toward prizes.
The Adult Services Department offers summer programs as well including two books clubs, Writer’s Corner, Revolving Recipe Round-Up, Coffee and Canvas, card-making workshops, field trips, and other special events.
