‘Libraries Rock!’ Summer Reading Program Underway

Rock ‘n’ roll fans; browse our Beatles physical collections. “The Beatles Lyrics: The Stories Behind The Music, Including The Handwritten Drafts Of More Than 100 Classic Beatles Songs” is fascinating reading.
Editor Hunter Davies said there are over 2,000 books about The Beatles but what really matters is their music. In seven years, The Beatles left a range of songs and lyrics with narrative stories, images, emotions and dreams. Most started with scraps of words or phrases or only a title or tune.
Do you know a teen who writes lyrics? Teens may enter original lyrics in the library’s June song writing contest and learn the basics of playing acoustic guitar from award winning singer/songwriter Douglas Haines on June 19 or July 26.

I just finished reading the heartwarming “Elvis Pres-ley’s Love Me Tender” picture book based on Elvis Presley’s official 1956 song lyrics with an endnote from Priscilla Presley and artwork by Stephanie Graegin, who spent her childhood drawing in Fort Wayne.
