Activities Galore In Akron

Join us for Kids Rock Painting at 2 p.m. June 13 at the Akron Public Library. Rock Painting for Teens will start at 2 p.m. June 14 and Adult Rock Painting will take place at 3:30 p.m. the same day. There is no cost. Please sign up to participate. These events are for individuals who are enrolled in the ACPL Summer Reading Program.

Other activities at the Akron Community Public Library include:

• The Chain Gang (knitting/crocheting/needlework group) will meet from 2 to 4 p.m. June 19. All skill levels are welcome.

• Join us for our next installment of our  recipe swap club, Dish It Up, at 6 p.m. June 19. Add to your collection of great recipes and taste delicious food. Share your favorite recipe of the month and take home a whole new set of recipes each month for your family to try.  June’s Theme:  Pick Up a Book and Cook.

• A fun time for all ages will be had when “Silly Safaris” comes to the library at 10 a.m. June 20. We hope you'll join us.  A Silly Safaris live animal show is the perfect blend of fact and fun for all ages.

Silly Safaris keeps the entire audience involved. Special guests from the audience join each animal for a game that teaches about the natural world. You’ll see a variety of reptiles, mammals, birds and bugs for an experience everyone will remember.

Teachers and families love Silly Safaris; teens enjoy our hip cultural references, and adults try to catch our comedy.  Silly Safaris is a part of the summer reading program.

• The library is offering a workshop on Nail Art, sponsored by Love Your Hair Salon & Day Spa in Peru, at 2 p.m. June 21. This workshop is for teens who are enrolled in the summer reading program. There is no cost, but sign up is required.

• Attention kids in grades K-5:  Science Rocks at the library. Come join us for some super science fun and enjoy doing hands-on science experiments at 2 p.m. June 25. The event is for children enrolled in the summer reading program. Please sign up to attend this activity.

• Be a part of our Puzzlemania from 4 to 5:30 p.m. June 26 at the library.  Young and old will enjoy the challenge of various types of puzzles to work on and solve.

 • Children can enjoy making a sun catcher and noisemaker craft at this workshop at 2 p.m. June 27. There is no cost, but children need to sign up for this activity. This event is for children enrolled in the summer reading program.

• Teen Nerf Gun Fun is a great opportunity for our teens to have fun and to practice their skill levels with various targets. Sign up is required. This event will be held at 2 p.m. June 28 and is designed for individuals who are enrolled in the summer reading program.

 • Join us for another great Adult Crafty Corner at 6 p.m. June 28 at the library. There is no cost but sign up is required.
