As more people seek natural alternatives to staying healthy, essential oils have grown in popularity.  But exactly what are essentials oils and how are they used? Learn all about them at 2 p.m. Feb. 22 at North Webster Community Public Library.

Jenny Markley will explain the health and wellness benefits of essential oils and share her knowledge and experience using them for her family’s well-being. She will present hands-on education and demonstrate simple techniques for getting the most out of essential oils during this winter season. The program is free and open to the public.

Writer’s Corner will draw upon plenty of hands-on experience as they compose and share their essays about living in snow 10 a.m. Monday. If you enjoy writing, share your passion with other writers. On the third Monday each month, the group shares what they have written about an assigned topic as they learn from and encourage one another.

Registrations are currently being accepted for another Beginning Genealogy Course to be held 1 p.m. Thursdays, March 1, 8, 15 and 22. In this four-class course, students learn how to get started researching their family history.

They will learn the standards for genealogy; how to find information online and in libraries and courthouses; research techniques; how to organize their research; and much more.

Taught by the library’s local history and genealogy center director Beth Smith, the course is free, and no library card needed to take the course. However, advance registration is required.

Sign up for the course at the circulation desk or call 574-834-7122.

Family Movie Night at the library is also free. Bring the kids at 5 p.m. Feb. 22 to watch a 2017 animated musical fantasy about little horses who embark on an epic journey to save their homeland from fearsome invaders. The movie is rated PG and runs 99 minutes.

Even the popcorn is free.

Stay abreast of the many programs and activities going on at the library. Sign up for the library’s Text Club and receive announcements and reminders of upcoming programs and events on your cell phone. Simply send the text message “Library” to the number 36000. Those who prefer e-mail notices can send their e-mail addresses to [email protected] and you will be added to the library’s e-mail list. Programs and events are also listed on the library’s website at www.nweb.lib.in.us and on Facebook.  A printed monthly newsletter and calendar are also available and free to pick up at the library.
