High-Tech Centerpiece Well Worth A Look (photo package)

The 21-foot “pixel tree” is perched in front of the Glover Pavilion stage in Central Park and is programmable for customized patterns and messages.
The tree is surrounded by other more traditional light displays, was donated to the parks and recreation department and set up free of charge.
No taxpayer dollars were used for the new addition.
The project was paid for by Carl and Laura Sowers, constructed by Drew Nisley, of Goshen. Herman’s Christmasland in Pierceton provided assistance as well.The entire Central Park display includes about 200,000 lights and 36 figurines spread throughout the park. Christmas music can be heard throughout the park area.

The holiday light display will continue until midnight New Year’s Eve.
Normal park hours run as late as 10 p.m., but spectators can check out the display as late as midnight each night.
