Ready To Help Students Into The New School Year
August 8, 2018 at 8:37 p.m.
The Milford Public Library is happy to help students of any age prepare for school. Staff members are available to help students locate materials, understand digital services and more.
Students age 6 and older attending Wawasee schools or living in VanBuren or East Jefferson townships can get a free library card at our library. A library card gives students access to more than 100 Indiana Evergreen libraries as well as ebook and audiobook lending service OverDrive.
Our extensive collection of accelerated reader books comes clearly marked with reading level and points, and we are always willing to help even the most discerning reader find a book to enjoy.
Those preparing for higher education can consult our practice test books for the SAT, ACT, GRE, GED, nursing school entrance, and Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery exams.
The newest version of these books require a deposit that will be returned when the book is returned. Our variety of books on scholarships, career selection and college prep can help students figure out their next step.
Be sure to come in this month to ensure a good start to a great school year.
‘Lights Out’ Theme
Everyone can vote, once a day, through Aug. 31 for their choice of Lights Out at the Library theme. There are three different themes to choose from, and the theme with the most votes at the end of August is the theme we will use for this year’s “Lights Out at the Library” on Oct. 31.
Ask for a ball at the adult circulation desk and place the ball in the correct slot on the plinko board to vote for your favorite theme. All ages can vote. The winning theme will be announced on Sept. 5. “Lights Out at the Library” is our most popular program all year, so be sure to place your vote at the library.
Knitting Club
Learn a new skill with the Knitting Club from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 16 The members will teach anyone interested how to knit and crochet.
Individuals are also welcome to stop by to work on a project. If you can’t make it to this meeting, future meetings are always on the first and third Thursday each month. No library card or registration is needed.
Library To Close Early
The library will be closed early, at 4 p.m. Tuesday, for a staff in-service. Be sure to return materials in the drop boxes. The library will reopen at 10 a.m. Wednes-day.
