August Reading Contest
Since August is back-to-school month, the library’s August reading contest is about teachers. Read a book that has a teacher as a character, and then enter the book’s title along with your name and phone number in the drawing for a chance to win a prize.
The more you read, the more chances you have to win. The drawing will take place the first of September.
Craft-A-Card Workshop
Learn to make a summer greeting card at Craft-A-Card Workshop at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 16. Wrenay Kann will provide instruction for making an intricately detailed, pop-out birthday card.
The cost of the workshop is $10 and includes all card-making supplies. A sample of the card can be seen at the library.
Advance registration is needed along with the non-refundable payment. Those interested can sign up and pay at the circulation desk. The card workshop is for adults only.
Field Trip
The library is planning another field trip to Elkhart on Aug. 17. Leaving the library at 9 a.m. and traveling by carpool, the group will visit Birds Gotta Fly, a vintage store housed in the historic 1906 Boris Smoler Dress Factory building; the National New York Central Railroad Museum; and Linton’s Enchanted Gardens which is Indiana’s largest home and garden center. A lunch stop is also planned.
To go on the field trip, you must sign up in advance at the circulation desk. Bring $6 for museum admission, plus money for lunch and shopping. The field trip is for adults only.
