SYRACUSE – With a new script, festive music and a children’s choir, Lakes Area Players has made changes to its family-friendly Christmas dinner theater production.

“Christmas on the Air” is a behind-the-scenes look at a ficticious radio show.

“How many of you remember the days of listening to radio broadcasts such as ‘The Lone Ranger,’ ‘Fibber McGee and Molly,’ ‘The Shadow’?” asked Director Elaine Pearson. “Before the time of television and DVDs, radio stories entertained us. Now LAP and Quaker Haven Camp would like you be part of our ‘studio audience’ and witness a unique Nativity ‘radio’ show this December with our new production.”

Board members Jason Dorsett and Jennifer Christian are assisting Pearson with directing duties. Several actors, while “on the air,” will portray unusual characters that provide a new perspective on the birth of Jesus. Later those actors learn their own valuable lessons on the holidays during the commercial breaks, according to a news release from the Lakes Area Players.

The dinner program will be held at Quaker Haven Dining Hall, 111 EMS D16 Lane, Syracuse.

Performances will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 1-2 and 8-9 with a matinee at 2 p.m. Dec. 3.

Reservations can be made by calling Quaker Haven Camp at 574-834-4193.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $13 for children ages 5 to12 years old.

LAP is a 501c3 non-denominational Christian theater group that has been providing Christmas and Easter entertainment for more than 10 years.
