Dance Team Enjoys Successful Competition Year

They kicked off the year with performances at the Dance Makers competition and convention in Dearborn, Mich.
Elora Chaney earned a scholarship to the Camp Dance convention. “Lost Boy,” “Wizard of Oz,” “Space Jam” and “When You’re an Addams” all received Style High Score recognition.
Judges Choice awards were given to “Lost Boy,” “Wizard of Oz,” “Ophelia” and “When You’re an Addams.”
“Wizard of Oz,” “Unsteady,” “What Is This Feeling,” “Where They From”?and “When You’re an Addams” all received first-place rankings.
The team next traveled to Chicago to participate in the Danza competition and convention.
Kiana Piercy, Alex Fiscus, Bri Stewart, Hailey Carney and Kassidy Hockert all were awarded Starfinalist recognition for their solo performances. Additionally, Alex Fiscus was recognized with a Great Aspiration award. Judges granted the costume award to Marty McFly and “Wizard of Oz,” the best emotional execution to “I See Fire”?and most entertaining to “When You’re an Addams.”
Space Jam Remix was awarded second runner-up in the line advanced category.
“When You’re an Addams” received the High Score Advanced for a mini production and the Zenith High Score.
The girls finished their season at IPFW at the Variety Competition.
“Lost Boy” received a judges’ award for choreography. Judges’ awards were also given to “Muddy Waters” for technique, “Grace Kelly” for precision and “Space Jam Remix” for choreography. “Bye Bye Remix” earned a gold rating. “What is This Feeling,” “Heartless,” “Dream,” “Work Song,” “Hollaback Girl,” “Grace Kelly,” “Blackbird,” “Ghostbusters,” “Lost Boy” and “Marty McFly” were all awarded High Gold awards.
Platinum awards were given to “In This Shirt,” “Once Upon Another Time,” “Where They From,” “I Found,” “Unsteady,” “Yellow Flicker Beat,” “Wizard of Oz,” “Space Jam Remix,”?“When You’re An Addams,” “Muddy Waters,” “Ophelia” and “I See Fire.”
“Lost Boy”?earned high score of the day in the 10 and under group, and “Once Upon Another Time” won high score of the day for the 11 and older group.
The dance school productions begin June 10 and also are offered June 11, 16, 17 and 18. The theme this year is “Icons and Legends” and will feature all of the work the dancers from the Syracuse, Warsaw and Nappanee studios have been doing all year, as well as the group numbers the team performed in competition.
Lee Anne’s signature style, featuring musical theater and dancing that tells a story, is present throughout the program, the release states.
