June 28, 2017 at 5:24 p.m.
By Staff Report-
Beginning July 7, jazz and standards will be played by the Fascinatin’ Rhythm band.
On July 14, the Shepherd’s Brass Quintet from Auburn will play a variety of music from across several decades.
There will be no music in the downtown park July 21, but, head over to the air-conditioned Akron Community Center to listen to the Jammers play bluegrass, country, gospel and folk tunes on acoustic stringed instruments – or bring your instrument and join in.
Back at the downtown park July 28, the classic rock band Nightshift will perform and lastly, don’t miss the piano style of Matt Ball the “Boogie-Woogie Kid” from Detroit Aug. 4.
Since Ball will be traveling from Detroit, his program will move to the Akron Community Center in case of bad weather. The other outdoor programs will be cancelled or rescheduled.
The Akron Area Arts League invites you to bring your friends, family, chairs or blanket and enjoy the free concerts funded in part by the Indiana Arts Commission through regional partner the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County and the NEA, a federal program.
