By Staff Report-
The free, family-friendly concert will take place Saturday at the Hillside Amphitheater, located on the hillside of Spring Fountain Park in the Village. In case of rain, the concert will move to the Winona Heritage Room.
The concert will begin at 11:30 a.m. with Webb, followed by New Millennium Jazz at 1 p.m.
“What better way to enjoy a Saturday afternoon in Winona Lake?” said Walter Brath, coordinator of the festival. “Margaret Murphy-Webb and New Millennium Jazz will delight an audience of all ages with their beautiful music. Stop by for an hour or the entire show.”
Webb has sung professionally throughout the United States and Europe for more than 30 years. She developed her unique vocal style and showmanship under the tutelage of world-renowned tenor saxophonist Von Freeman. At Saturday’s concert, Webb will perform jazz standards made popular by jazz greats including Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn and Billy Holiday.
The New Millennium Jazz Orchestra from Fort Wayne is one of northern Indiana's premier jazz ensembles. Formed in 1999, the group plays big band jazz from all eras. The upcoming concert will feature selections from Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Stan Kenton, Maynard Ferguson and others.
The second annual Festival of Music is sponsored by Grace College, Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts and The Village at Winona.
