By Staff Report-

Center Street Community Theatre has announced auditions for its first improv house team.

Auditions will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Aug. 9 in the basement of the fellowship hall at the Warsaw First United Methodist Church; and from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 12 at the Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts.

The community theater is seeking five to seven improv team members for its 2017-18 season. The improv house team will perform comedy shows around the community throughout the year, meet regularly for rehearsals, and have its home at Center Street Community Theatre. The audition will consist of improv and acting games, team exercises and other activities.  Those auditioning are encouraged to wear clothes easy to move in and come ready to have fun. No prior preparation or experience is necessary.

Improv is a form of comedic theatre in which participants perform unscripted scenes, such as in the hit show, “Whose Line is it Anyway?” Center Street Community Theatre continues to offer improv classes for beginner and experienced improvisers, with fall classes beginning Sept. 16.

The Center Street Community Theatre is the most recent addition to the Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts’ initiatives. The community theatre’s past productions include “You Can’t Take It With You,” “Almost Maine,” “M*A*S*H,” “The Foreigner,” “Over the River and through the Woods,” “The Curious Savage” and “Off the Wagon: A Night of Unpredictable Comedy.” Production of the fall show “Steel Magnolias” is underway. Plans are also underway for fall improv classes, a spring production and more.
