“Nunsense” will be staged at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 4 and 5 in the black box theater of the WCHS Performing Arts Center.
Dana McAfee, drama teacher, said the fundraiser was necessary because they want to hire a flying effects company to make Poppins fly in the school’s musical and that takes extra money.
“This is the first time we’ve ever done an alumni show,” she said.
Along with McAfee playing the older Mother Superior, the cast will include Kendra Housel, Karyn Brumbaugh, Liz Brown and Erin Mills. Housel and Brown are 2016 WCHS graduates, Mills graduated in 2008 and Brumbaugh graduated in 2003.
Musical director is Thomas Hall, a 2003 WCHS graduate.
Tickets are $15 – cash or check only – and are on sale in the WCHS front office during normal school hours.
In “Nunsense,” McAfee said, “a group of nuns are doing a fundraiser for a small disaster that happened at the convent.” The musical requires a little audience participation because the audience for “Nunsense” is the audience for the nuns’ fundraiser.
McAfee suggests getting tickets before the show because seating is limited.
Donations may be sent to WCHS, attention Dana McAfee; write “Mary Poppins” in the memo line.
