By Staff Report-

Chimp’s Comix is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a year-long celebration of specials and events, and it all begins this Saturday.

“First off we want to say thanks for 25 years! We wouldn't have made it this long without your support and hope for many more years of support,” said Chimp’s owner Nick Kelley.

Saturday’s celebration will count as the first month of the year-long celebration.

“We will do something each month whether it be sales, special events or just bonuses for Chimp's T-shirts. The monthly celebrations will end July 2018,” Kelley said.

On Saturday, the business will have a reunion of past helpers and a cake at noon.

There will be door prizes where the winner must be present to win. There won't be raffle tickets for these door prizes. They will be given out every half hour or so. Store employees will call out something randomly (like looking for someone wearing a certain T-shirt or trivia question or something). Chimp’s has posted the door prizes and how to win them on its Facebook page.

“We will put these all into a box and pull out a random one. There will be many door prizes available covering many of the product lines we carry, which will be announced on the day of the celebration but will have many good items. We will also have new Chimp's T-shirts available as door prizes, too,”?Kelley said.

Chimp’s Comix will have a bonus door prize. Karma donated a “Guardians of the Galaxy” soundtrack LP for one lucky winner.

Chimp’s will host a silent auction of a “Star Wars” standee to benefit the Salvation Army. All bids must be placed at the store before closing. The highest bid wins and the Salvation Army will collect the money and take care of the prize.

The new Chimp’s T-shirts will be available as door prizes, and if you don't win one, Chimp’s will be selling them. These shirts will have special benefits at upcoming 25th anniversary celebrations. To get the benefits on the following days, you  need to attend the event wearing the shirt. The benefits will be announced with each event as it is announced.

Sales will include 50 percent off non-key back issues and signed comics, 25 $1 books for $20, 50-cent books for 25 cents each, buy one action figure and get a second one  for 50 percent off, 50 percent off posters and more. Visit the store or Facebook page for the complete list.
