CSCT Announces Auditions For ‘Steel Magnolias’

July 5, 2017 at 5:11 p.m.

By Staff Report-

Center Street Community Theatre has announced plans for the fall 2017 production of “Steel Magnolias” by Robert Harling.

Performances are scheduled for Oct. 5 to 8 at the Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts. The show will be directed by Madisson Heinl.

Auditions will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. July 17 and 18 in the basement fellowship hall of the Warsaw First United Methodist Church. Callbacks will be scheduled, if necessary, on July 19, at the same time and location.

The cast of “Steel Magnolias” will include six women of varying ages. The audition format will be “cold reading,” in which participants read directly from the script, rather than preparing monologues.

Theatrical resumes are welcome, but not necessary, and background forms will be available.

“‘Steel Magnolias’ is a classic show which reveals the importance of the strong women in our lives,” said Heinl. “I am excited and eager to bring this story to the Wagon Wheel stage.”

While the cast is comprised of women, Center Street Community Theatre is also looking to fill assistant director, stage manager, lighting design and hair and make-up positions. Donations of various set pieces also are being sought.

The Center Street Community Theatre is the most recent addition to the Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts’ initiatives. The community theatre’s past productions include “You Can’t Take It With You,” “Almost Maine,” “M*A*S*H,” “The Foreigner,” “Over the River and through the Woods,” “The Curious Savage” and “Off the Wagon: A Night of Unpredictable Comedy.” Plans are also underway for a spring production, fall improv classes and upcoming improv team auditions.

Those interested in finding more about the upcoming production and auditions can visit the group’s Facebook page or email them at [email protected].
