CROWN?POINT – The John Dillinger Museum, located inside the Lake County Courthouse in Crown Point, will offer admission for 25 cents to all individuals in February.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to take an interactive and historic tour through the life and times of Dillinger, as well as learn about the advancements made in crime fighting technology and the rise of the FBI – at the cost of a movie ticket in the 1930s, according to a news release from South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority.
“Dillinger met his demise at the hands of FBI agent Melvin Purvis outside of a movie theater in 1934. We will be offering admission to the Museum at $0.25, the average price of a movie ticket the same year,” said Erika Dahl, director of communications for the South Shore CVA. “This winter promotion comes at a time when visitor traffic is historically low to attractions and restaurants; we want people to get out and enjoy what the South Shore has to offer.”
The John Dillinger Museum, since its move to the Lake County Courthouse in summer 2015, has introduced a local law enforcement memorial wall, as well as the original indictment of John Dillinger, donated by the Lake County Courts.
The 25 cent promotion started Wednesday and runs through Feb. 28 during normal business hours.
To schedule a group tour of the museum, call 219-989-7770.
The museum is open Tuesdays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.; and is closed Monday.
More information can be found at www.dillingermuseum.com.
The John Dillinger Museum is located inside the Old Lake County Courthouse at 1 Courthouse Square, Crown Point.
