Her husband,?Mark Eaton, also provided some details about the men’s conference he will be hosting that same weekend, Dec. 15-16.
“A Country Christmas with Susie McEntire” is Dec. 16 in the Lakeview Middle School auditorium. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the concert starting at 7 p.m. While the concert is free – thanks to the sponsors – it is a benefit for Toys For Tots, so donations or new unwrapped toys will be collected at the door.
McEntire said they were driving home from Arkansas for a credit union Christmas party.
“We have a busy 10 days, with it all culminating in Warsaw,” she said.
McEntire said she and her husband do five things every year, many of them western-type of activities like rodeos. This Sunday, they will be at the National Rodeo Finals.
When they’re not traveling, she said they have some cows they take care of on a big cattle ranch in Oklahoma. They enjoy visiting with their grandkids when they’re able.
“My mom is still alive so we visit her and take her places,” McEntire said.
For the Christmas concert, she said she and Eaton have been learning new songs. He will perform with her on the stage. She said she hopes the audience feels like it’s an intimate setting at their home.
She praised the concert’s organizer, Mike Loher, for his promotion of the concert and said he’s done a good job. The stage in 2016 was beautifully done, and there was a quartet in the lobby singing Christmas songs beforehand.
A huge surprise for McEntire was when Santa and Mrs. Claus came out on stage in their “beautiful, authentic” costumes.
Warsaw Christian School choir will sing again this year with McEntire. While they always sing “Jingle Bells” together, McEntire wasn’t sure yet what other song they’d perform.
“I may call them and see if there’s a song they want to sing,” she said.
Eaton will sit in on a few songs with his wife, but he’ll be busy that weekend, too. He is the president of the Eaton Leadership Foundation based out of Oklahoma. It is known for its faith-based men’s leadership conferences.
He is bringing his conference, called “The Conversation,” to Warsaw, with attendees as far away as Seattle, Wash.; Denver, Colo.; and Minnesota.
The conference is 5 to 9 p.m Dec. 15 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 16. Both will be at a hangar at the Warsaw Municipal Airport.
Registration is $50. For more information on the conference, call 574-376-0193; visit Eatonleadership.org or susiemcentire.com.
Eaton said part of the conference will focus on being a better husband, but it will focus on “our Story,” explaining that it’s about “the cues of our personal stories. These are the cues that determine everything we do and potentially filling us with high-octane energy. I’ll be speaking and presenting my story. I’ll be telling some real, authentic portions of my story, as will men from Warsaw.”
He said the conferences are intentionally kept small to about 30. The conferences are held in Seattle, southcentral Oklahoma in April and will be back in Warsaw next December.
“It’ll be good for any man who wants to understand his own inner world to help him skillfully be a part of his son’s or daughter’s world. This is for them. They can’t help (their children) if they don’t know their own story.”
Concluding their weekend, McEntire and Eaton will host services at 9 a.m. Dec. 17 at the Leesburg United Methodist Church.
